Will of Abraham Larowe

In the name of God amen, the twenty sixth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty seven - 1747. I Abram Larew of Hopewell within the Corporation of Trenton yeoman, being in good health and of perfect mind and memory thanks be to God for the same, therefore calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament, and as touching such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life I give and devise and dispose of in the following manner and forms:

Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my sons Abram Larew and Isaac Larew and my dear wife Harmekie (after my just debts and the legacies hereafter specified is justly paid) - all my moveable estate jointly together and an equal right in the profits of my plantation during my wife's widowhood and at the time of her death or the day of her marriage to be equally divided between my sons Abraham Larew and Isaac Larew. And at the time of my wife's death or marriage I give and bequeath until my sons Abraham Larew and Isaac Larew jointly together and to their heirs and assigns forever all my plantation situate in Hopewell aforesaid with all the rights profits privileges hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever to be freely possessed and enjoyed by them their heirs and assigns forever. But if my son Isaac should die before he comes to the age of twenty one years then my son Abraham to have my son Isaac's part of all the lands and movable Abraham paying therefrom twenty pounds lawfull money of this place aforesaid to my son Jacob Larew.

Item: I give unto my daughter Susannah wife to Cornelius Slack the sum of ten pounds lawfull money of the place aforesaid to be paid by my executors out of my movable estate.

Item: I give unto my daughter Altie the sum of ten pounds to be paid as aforesaid.

Item: I give and bequeath unto my daughter Catran the sum of ten pounds to be paid as aforesaid.

Item: I give and bequeath unto my son Jacob Larew the sum of twenty pounds and a horse saddle and bridle to be paid as aforesaid.

Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary the sum of ten pounds to be paid as aforesaid.

And I do appoint and ordain my son Abraham Larew to be executor and my wife Harmekie to be executrix of this my last will and testament and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former testaments wills legacies and executors by me in any ways before this time named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament - in witness whereof I have hereunto my hand and seal this day and year above written.

Signed sealed and published as his last will and testament in the presents of Robert Akers, William Wood, Andrew Smith.

Andrew Smith and robert Akers two of the witnesses to the within will being sworn on the Holy Evangelists of Almighty God did severally depose that they saw Abraham Larew the testator within named sign and seal the same and geard him publish pronounce and declare the within instrument to be his last will and testament and that at the doing thereof the said testator was of sound and disposing mind and memory as far as these deponents know and as they verily believe and that William Wood the other subscribing witness was present at the same time and signed his name as a witness to the said will together with these deponents in the presence of the said testator. Abraham Larew executor and Harmekie Larew executrix in the within testament named being sworn on the Holy Evangelists of Almighty God did severally depose that the within instrument contains the true last will and testament of Abraham Larew the testator therein named so far as they know and as they verily believe and that they will well and truely perform the same by paying first the debts of the said deceased and then the legacies in the said testament specified so far as the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased can thereunto extend and that they will make and exhibit into the Prerogative Office in Burlington a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased that shall come to their knowledge or possession or to the possession of any person or persons for their use and tender a just and true acct. when thereunto lawfully required.

Andrew Smith Esq. and Robert Akers the appraisers of the above inventory being sworn on the Holy Evangelists of Almighty God did depose that the goods chattels and credits in the said inventory set down and specified were by them appraised according to their just and true respective ? and values after the best of their judgement and understanding and they they appraised all things that were brought to their view for appraisement.

Abraham Larew Executor and Harmekie Larew Executrix of the last will and testament of the within named Abraham Larew deceased being sworn on the Holy Evangelists of Almighty God did depose that the within writing contains a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods and chattels and credits of the said deceased so far as hath come to their knowledge or possession or to the possession of any other person or persons for their use.
